The Washington Nationals are coming off a strong but disappointing 2017 MLB season. The Nationals placed first in the National League East with 97 wins but lost to the Chicago Cubs in Game 5 of the NLDS. The Nationals are looking to improve on their MLB post season record in the 2018 MLB Season.
In 2005, the Montreal Expos MLB organization moved to Washington, DC and changed their name to the Washington Nationals. The team plays in the National League of Major League Baseball. From 2005 to 2007, the team played in RFK Stadium, however, since 2008 their home stadium has been Nationals Park.
Since their relocation, have won the National League East title in 2012, 2014, and 2016. The Nationals play against tough competition night in and night out in their league against teams like the New York Met, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, and Miami Marlins. The team was constructed with young players like Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper and Gio Gonzalez to create a competitive team over time.
From 1901 through 1971, D.C. was home to the Washington Senators, a Major-League Baseball team. The Senators lasted from 1901 to 1961, going to three World Series, winning the championship in 1924.
