Fifth Harmony are hitting the road in North America in 2016 and kicking it all off on July 27^th in Manchester, NH.

Fifth Harmony is a girl group formed on the2nd season of the The X Factor. The group consists of members Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, Camila Cabello, and Lauren Jauregui.

Brady to Appeal Deflategate Suspension to Full 2nd Circuit Court

NFL Tickets - CapitalCityTickets.com Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback at the center of the Deflategate scandal who was suspended for four games, has decided to appeal his punishment to the full 2^nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The original deadline to file an appeal was May 9, but Brady and his attorneys received a two-week extension.

A three-judge panel on the court upheld Brady’s suspension on April 25 in a 2-1 vote. The judges believed that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had disciplined Brady fairly and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Brady will file his appeal en banc, which means that he will ask the entire 13-judge panel to rehear his case. Before that can happen, seven of the judges will need to agree to an en banc session. If they decide against Brady’s request, he could appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Theodore B. Olson, an attorney with the NFL Players Association, expects the appellate court to issue a ruling quickly. Brady’s attorneys could ask for a stay if the case is still going on near the start of the season. That would stop action in the case and allow Brady to play.

Olson was added to Brady’s legal team after the appeals court upheld his suspension. Olson has argued cases before the Supreme Court 62 times, including the two Bush v. Gore cases after the 2000 presidential election. He has won over 75 percent of the cases he has argued. Olson also represented the Players Association in the 2011 labor negotiations.

Brady’s legal team is making two arguments in the case. The first is that Goodell investigated the allegations against Brady, imposed the suspension as discipline, appointed himself as an arbitrator or appellate judge, and then made a different decision in the appellate process instead of making a decision based on what had happened before. The attorneys also argue that Goodell ignored provisions in the collective bargaining agreement about the appropriate discipline for equipment violations.

DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the Players Association, said in an interview on SportsCenter that Brady is fighting what the Association considers an unfair ruling. He said the league and the commissioner were acting like “bullies.”

If the suspension stands, Brady will be forced to sit out the first four games of the season against the Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, and Buffalo Bills. He would return to play in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns.

During the offseason, Brady signed a two-year contract extension that lowered his salary for 2016 from $9 million to $1 million. If his four-game suspension is upheld, the reduced salary means he will save nearly $2 million in lost salary.

Suspensions and Fines Handed out after Rangers-Blue Jays Brawl

A brawl broke out on Sunday, May 15 during a game between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Several suspensions and fines have been handed out as punishment for the fracas at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

On Sunday, Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista reached the base after Rangers pitcher Matt Bush hit him with a pitch in the eighth inning. Bautista slid at the legs of Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor. Players from both teams ran out to the field, and Odor shoved and punched Bautista in the face.

Players on Both Teams Punished

Odor received an eight-game suspension as punishment for punching Bautista. Odor was also punished with a $5,000 fine. Bautista received a one-game suspension for his actions and comments he made after the game. Both Odor and Bautista are appealing their punishments. Odor said he did not regret his actions but also said he respects Bautista because he plays hard.

A total of 14 players and staff from both teams were disciplined for taking part in the brawl. Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was suspended for one game as punishment for aggressive actions. He sat out a game on May 17 in Oakland, California. Odor, Bautista, Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, and Rangers bench coach Steve Buechele were all ejected after the brawl. Donaldson and Buechele were fined on Tuesday. Texas pitchers Bush, Sam Dyson, and A.J. Griffin; Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos; and Toronto outfielder Kevin Pillar also received fines. Rangers manager Jeff Banister said the rules are fair and that the team will abide by the punishments.

Bautista played against Tampa Bay on Tuesday and hit a two-run home run in the first inning, giving the Blue Jays their only runs of the night. He said he was confident that his appeal would be successful.

Punishments for Staff

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was suspended for three games because he returned to the field after being ejected from the game. First base coach Tim Leiper was suspended for one game because he returned to the dugout after being ejected. Both were also punished with undisclosed fines.

Gibbons said publicly that he thought the length of his suspension was excessive. He said he returned to the field to try to diffuse the situation and protect his players, even though he knew he would be punished. He would not comment when asked whether he thought Odor’s eight-game suspension was fair.

Chavez and Hale, who was serving as acting manager after Gibbons had been ejected for arguing with umpires, were both ejected from the game. Chavez was suspended for three games for intentionally throwing a ball at Fielder. He is appealing his punishment. Hale was fined for Chavez’s actions after umpires had warned the teams.

The Sunday game was the last regular season matchup between the Blue Jays and Rangers. A feud had been going on since Bautista flipped a bat in the American League Division Series last year.

Tom Petty and Mudcrutch to Release New Album and Tour

The band Mudcrutch was formed in 1970 when the members (bassist Tom Petty, guitarists Tom Leadon and Mike Campbell, drummer Randall Marsh, and keyboard player Benmont Tench) were just teenagers. They released one single, “Depot Street,” in 1974 and broke up the following year. They were shocked and unprepared for the realities of the music business and recording. Petty, Campbell, and Tench went on to form the Heartbreakers in 1976.

Mudcrutch reunited in 2007 to create their first studio album. They wanted to capture the same live dynamic that had characterized their early performances in Gainesville, Florida in the 1970s. They recorded for only about 10 days.

The band worked on their new album, 2, for about a month and recorded almost two LPs’ worth of songs, with contributions from all of the members. The album is scheduled to be released on May 20.

Petty plays bass in the band, which affected the dynamic of the group and the way the music sounded. The lead single, “Trailer,” as well as “Dreams of Flying” and “Hope” are similar to Petty’s classic rock anthems.

Mudcrutch played and sang their first album live and had some overdubs. With 2, they decided to dig deeper and use the right equipment and techniques to get the exact sound they wanted.

The album was recorded at the Heartbreakers’ studio in Van Nuys, California and at Petty’s studio in Malibu. Petty said in an interview with Rolling Stone that the process was organic and that the songs grew in the studio. He only knew going in that he wanted the second album to have more of an edge and some new sounds.

After the album is released, Mudcrutch will start their first-ever full-scale tour with 16 dates. They turned down offers to play large venues and decided to perform at places with no more than 2,000 seats. Petty said they wanted to focus on listening and feeling the music, rather than playing a lot of hits for large crowds. Petty does not know if Mudcrutch will record another album, but he said he is open to the possibility.

Nowitzki Opts out of Contract but Stays with Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki, a power forward with the Dallas Mavericks, wants to opt out of the last season of his three-year, $25 million contract with the Mavericks, but he intends to stay with the team for the rest of his career. Nowitzki made the announcement in Dallas on Monday, May 2.

Nowitzki had previously stated multiple times that he planned to play out the remainder of his contract. If he had completed his contract, he would have earned $8.7 million. He might take a lower salary so the Mavericks will have more flexibility in the summer.

Nowitzki plans to have a meeting with Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and general manager Donnie Nelson in the next few weeks. They plan to discuss ways to improve the team.

Since they won an NBA championship in 2011, the Mavericks have been a seven or eight seed. They have won only a few playoff games. Nowitzki’s goal was to compete at the highest level in his last years with the team. He said in an interview on ESPN that he hopes the team will be able to compete at a high level.

Nowitzki said he is committed to spending the rest of his career with the Mavericks. He made the decision when they won the NBA championship in 2011. Nowitzki hopes to join Kobe Bryant and become only the second player to have a 20-year career with a single team. In order to do that, he will need to play two more seasons with the Mavericks.
