Neil Diamond is hitting the road in 2017 with his “The 50 Year Anniversary Tour” dates and it is all kicking off on April 7th in Fresno, CA.
Neil Diamond was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1941. It wasn’t until he went to summer camp one year in upstate NY and heard a concert by folk-singer, Pete Seeger, that he began to find his path to his career. He received his first guitar and immediately started writing songs. Diamond attended New York University as a pre-med major on a fencing scholarship. During his senior year, after cutting classes and playing in small bars, Sunbeam Music Publishing offered him a job writing songs for $50 a week, and he dropped out of college to accept it.
Diamond has sold over 120 million records worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling artists of all time. His songs have been covered internationally by many performers from various musical genres.
Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and has had eleven No. 1 singles: “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Song Sung Blue,” “Longfellow Serenade,” “I’ve Been This Way Before,” “If You Know What I Mean,” “Desiree,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “America,” “Yesterday’s Songs,” “Heartlight,” and “I’m a Believer.”
Another hit of his, Sweet Caroline”, is played frequently at sporting events, and has become an anthem for the Boston Red Sox.
