At age 18, Clapton joined The Yardbirds with Keith Relf and Paul Samwell-Smith. They recorded two albums, Five Live Yardbirds and Sonny Boy Williamson and The Yardbirds. In 1966, Clapton formed the rock group, Cream. Cream band members consisted of Clapton on guitar and vocals, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker. Cream produced a number of albums including Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire. Cream lasted two years before breaking up.

Due to the death of Jimi Hendrix, constant changing of bands, and other tragic events, Clapton dived into drug addiction. He re-emerged in 1973 and began a solo career that has lasted for over forty years. Some of the most notable material from this period in Clapton’s career includes 1974’s 461 Ocean Boulevard, Slowhand, Money and Cigarettes, and From the Cradle. Some of Clapton’s hits include “Tears in Heaven,” Wonderful Tonight,” “After Midnight,” and “Change The World.”
