James Taylor was born in 1948, in Boston, MA, but grew up near Chapel Hill, NC. Taylor began his career after high school and formed several small groups buy they were short-lived, and Taylor fell into drug addiction.
In a move to get away from drug addiction Taylor moved to London where he began his solo career. While there, he submitted a demo tape to The Beatles’ Apple Records label in pursuit of a solo career. He released his debut album, James Taylor, in 1969 to little success.
Taylor soon moved back to the U.S. and it was here his music career began to sky rocket. He released his second album, Sweet Baby James, that featured the hit single “Fire and Rain”. After an equally successful third album, Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, Taylor released several more moderately successful efforts. In 1977 Taylor released his album, JT, which included the hit singles “Your Smiling Face” and “Handy Man.”
Taylor has won five Grammy Awards, including three separate wins for Best Pop Vocal Performance: Male.

Jackson Browne grew up in Southern California but in 1967, found his way to New York to try making a mark on the ever-popular folk music scene. Before moving to NY, Browne joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band which recorded a number of Browne’s songs, including “These Days”, “Holding”, and “Shadow Dream Song”. For the next few years he would write and record songs and at the age of 23, Browne released his debut album Jackson Browne (Asylum Records). The album included the hit singles “Rock Me on the Water” and “Doctor My Eyes,” which reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Hold Out, gave Jackson Browne his first #1 album on the Billboard pop charts. The album included two singles that charted on the Billboard charts, with “Boulevard” making it to #19 and “That Girl Could Sing” peaking at #22.
Over the years Browne has written and recorded classic songs like “These Days”, “The Pretender”, “Running on Empty”, “Lawyers in Love”, “Doctor My Eyes”, “Take It Easy”, “For a Rocker”, and “Somebody’s Baby”.
