The 2017 MLB Cleveland Indians lost to the New York Yankees in the ALDS. They finished 1st in a tough American League East with 102 wins on the season. The Indians will be looking to get back to the World Series in the 2018 MLB season.
The Cleveland Indians have been around for over 100 years and are one of the original charter franchises of the American League. The other three original American League clubs that remain in the same city are: Chicago, Boston and Detroit. Although coming close in 2016 the Indians have not won the World Series since 1948.
The Indians play in the Central Division of the American League since 1994. They have won two World Series in 1920 and 1948 and six AL pennants in 1920, 1948, 1954, 1995, 1997, and 2016.
The fan base has always been a staple to the Cleveland community and Progressive Field. From 1995 until 2001, the team sold-out tickets for 455 straight games. It stood as a MLB ticket record until 2008 when the Boston Red Sox broke it. The Indians retired the number 455 in 2001. If you are looking at attending a Cleveland Indians home game at Progressive Field in Cleveland, OH make sure to get you tickets early as they sell out often.
In the 2013 season, the Indians hired two-time World Series champion manager Terry Francona to manage the ball club. Turned out to be a great hire in that he got the Indians back to the World Sers just three years later.
The Detroit Tigers have been around since 1901, and are part of one the best sports town the USA has to offer, the other being the Red Wings (NHL), Pistons (NBA), and Lions (NFL).
Over the years, the Tigers have on four World Series with the latest being in 1984. They play in the tough American League Central which also include Major League’s Baseball’s Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, and Minnesota Twins.
The MLB Tigers last appeared in the World Series in 2012 though falling short against the San Francisco Giants. Led by, Miguel Cabrera and Justin Verlander, the Tigers are looking to get back to the “Fall Classic” in 2017.
