Ryan set many records over his career including the record for most no-hitters thrown (only the third pitcher to throw no-hitters in both leagues) and broke the all-time strikeout record. The Houston Astros had his #34 retired in 1996.
In 2000, the Astros saw the end of an era with the Astrodome. The team moved into the brand-new Minute Maid Park. The park features a retractable roof and when closed the facility can be air conditioned. The stadium seats around 42,000 Astros fans on game day.
The Houston Astros two most recognizable names, one was known as the greatest Houston Astros player of all time, played for the team in the 90’s. Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell were their names and they were known as the “Killer B’s”. Bagwell won the MVP in 1994 and finished his career as the Houston Astros career leader in home runs, RBIs, walks, sacrifice flies and intentional walks.
