Born in 1945 in Highgate, London, Sir Roderick David “Rod” Stewart is a pop music star not only in the US but worldwide. Stewart style has been described as a fusion of rock, folk music, soul music, and R&B but throughout the years his music took on a more soft-rock feel. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked him the 17th most successful artist on the “Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists”. Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH in 1994.
Born in Queens, NY in 1953, Cyndi Lauper is a pop icon singer, songwriter, actress and LGBT activist. She has been performing for over 30 years and gained national fame immediately with her solo album She’s So Unusual. The album contained the popular singles “Girls Just Want to Have Fun”, “Time After Time”, “She Bop”, and “All Through the Night”, The album also earned Lauper the “Best New Artist” award at the Grammy Awards in 1985. She followed up that huge success with the soundtrack for the motion picture The Goonies and her second record True Colors.
In 2013 she wrote the score for the popular Broadway play Kinky Boots. She went on to win the Tony Award for “Best Original Score” for her hard work. She later received a Grammy Award “Best Musical Theater Album” for Kinky Boots.
