The Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will meet in the 2016 NBA Finals!

The Golden State Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals by defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Conference Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Toronto Raptors earlier in the week.

Warriors Could Break Chicago Bulls Record on April 13

When they beat the San Antonio Spurs 92-86 on Sunday, April 10, the Golden State Warriors tied the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls’ record of 72 wins. The Warriors will have a chance to surpass that record when they face off against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, April 13, in Oakland, California.

Sunday’s Warriors-Spurs game was a challenge for both teams. Even though the Spurs had an undefeated home record, they struggled at times to score against the Warriors. Golden State also struggled at times, with Stephen Curry not living up to his previous performances earlier in the season. The Warriors had scored only 14 points by the end of the first quarter. Curry’s performance improved in the second half, leading Golden State to a victory. Draymond Green also led the Warriors’ defense in an impressive run against the Spurs.

Stephen Curry kept the ball after the game. He said he learned in last year’s championship to hold onto the ball when something good happens. Last year, Andre Iguodala kept the ball.

Even though the game between the Warriors and the Spurs did not move the Warriors closer to the playoffs, it was still important and historic because it put them in the same league as the historic Chicago Bulls. Some former members of the Bulls are not happy about that and have mocked the Warriors in the media. Scottie Pippen of the ’96 Bulls said that his team would be able to beat the 2016 Warriors in a hypothetical matchup.

Some former players are more supportive. According to Draymond Green, when he spoke to Michael Jordan at All-Star Weekend, Jordan encouraged Green and his teammates to try to beat the Bulls’ record.

The Warriors are now turning their focus to their matchup against the Grizzlies and the possibility of setting a new record.
