Kenny Rogers announced on the Today Show that he retiring but first will embark on one final tour. The future tour has yet to be announced.
Kenny Rogers is an American country music artist and icon. Rogers is member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Kenny Rogers debut album was released in 1976 named Love Lifted Me.
Rogers states, “”I’ve done this long enough. There’s a fine line between being driven and being selfish, and I think I crossed that line when I was younger,” Rogers said. “I really want to be there with my kids and my wife. I don’t see enough of them. And I have some things on my bucket list.”
Rogers though has already announced his plans for his Once Again Its Christmas Tour which kicks off November 12th Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
The Country Music Hall of Famer has charted a record in each of the last seven decades and has sold more than one hundred million records worldwide. The tour runs thorough December 23rd with his final show at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Westbury, NY.
Rogers was formally inducted as a new member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville in October 2013 and received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 47th Annual CMA Awards in the same year. Over the course of a stellar career, he has received three Grammys, 11 People’s Choice Awards, 18 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music awards and six CMA awards.
