Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are hitting the road in 2017 with his “The 40 Year Anniversary Tour” dates and it is all kicking off on April 20th in Oklahoma City, OK.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers formed in 1976 in Gainesville, FL. The band’s original lineup was Tom Petty as the lead singer and guitar player, Mike Campbell as the lead guitarist, Ron Blair on bass, Stan Lynch on drums, and Benmont Tench on keyboards. The band has largely maintained this lineup with few changes over the years!
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, were on the forefront of the heartland rock movement which arose in the late 1970s and 1980s. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers have released many hit singles over the years. Some of the most popular are “American Girl”, “Breakdown”, “The Waiting”, “Learning to Fly”, “Refugee” and “Mary Jane’s Last Dance”. While the heartland rock movement fizzled in the 1990s, the band remained active and popular. The band continue to tour and record music.
Former Eagles member Joe Walsh and country star Chris Stapleton will handle opening duties on select shows.
